Virgin Atlantic has a great deal that reduces the price of Virgin Atlantic award flights, upgrades, and companion bookings by 20%. The big thing to pay attention to on this deal is that only the points are reduced by 20%, not the surcharges. Book by 01/31/24 and you must fly 12/31/24 onward (yes, the entire calendar is on sale). We’ve seen several Virgin Atlantic Reward sales in the past, most recently for Black Friday 2023 which was a 33% sale. The biggest sale we’ve seen is a whopping 50% in 2022. Bookings made within the promotional period which are then subsequently changed to new departure dates, outside of those detailed within this offer, will no longer be eligible for this offer and will be charged the difference in points plus any applicable fees and additional taxes, fees, and carrier-imposed surcharges at the time of making the change. Reward flights and upgrades are strictly subject to availability. The earning and redemption of Virgin Points is subject to the standard Flying Club Terms & Conditions and the Virgin Red Programme Terms and Conditions (which are subject to change from time to time). All travel is subject to Virgin Atlantic’s Conditions of Carriage (which are subject to change from time to time). These Terms & Conditions are subject to English Law and the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. Keep in mind that Virgin just rolled out a brand new A330-neo Upper Class that features a suite in the front. I’ve been lucky enough to fly it 3 times now, including once in the Retreat Suites shown below. What’s the Catch? There isn’t really a “catch” per se, but rather Virgin Atlantic has exceptionally high surcharges on their flights. So, while you’ll get 20% off the points, you don’t get 20% of the surcharges back…which can be a lot. This flight between ATL and LHR is 38,000 and £983 for Upper Class. Yikes! But it’s as low as 10,000 Miles and £153 in Economy Don’t forget the Reward Seat Checker. This feature of Virgin makes finding award space much easier. You can find it here – it shows a calendar of availability. You can find it here. Also, Air France, Delta, and Hawaiian miles can be used to book Virgin Atlantic. Here’s what the same flight shown above would price out with these currencies: Air France: Delta: Hawaiian: This should price at 62.5k miles and roughly $300 to $400; however, Hawaiian hasn’t been able to book Virgin for quite some time, but this could always change and it’s worth being on your radar. Overall, if you don’t mind paying the surcharges, or perhaps you’re using this for a one-way flight back from the UK where it’s quite difficult to avoid high fees in general, this could be a very opportune time to fly in a super cool lie-flat Upper Class experience. Or, if you don’t care so much about flying flat, the surcharges are far more palatable in Economy or Premium Economy.
